SEND Sessions at MK Gallery
Milton Keynes Gallery offer various SEND sessions through out the month. Please visit their site for more information and to access their social stories.
Supported Studio
Our Supported Studio programme is for young people aged 14-25yrs who identify as neurodiverse or as having additional support needs. Young people have the opportunity to work alongside artists in a fun and sociable environment where they can learn and experiment with new creative skills, take part in group activities, and get one-to-one guidance on personal projects.
Supported studio groups are small and tailored to meet the needs of the individuals in them.
Art Together - Family SEND Workshops
Families can work alongside each other to make, play and explore lots of exciting materials and creative activities, in an open and friendly shared space.
Places on this workshop must be pre-booked. If you are new to the IPA programme, we will request a little information about you and your family’s access requirements and interests to ensure your needs are met and that you have the best time possible!
SEND Exhibition Tours
Join one of our award winning Sensory Tours, and experience a unique sensory exploration of the exhibition Trickster Figures: Sculpture and the Body! This event is designed specifically for individuals of all ages with additional and complex needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and their families. Makaton is used throughout.
Relaxed Exhibition Tours
These are quiet hours tailored to support visitors with neurodiversity, inclusive of communication or sensory needs. Ear defenders and sensory aids are available, the hand dryers in the toilets are switched off, and tickets are limited to reduce the number of people in the galleries.
Relaxed screenings
These screenings have sensory friendly adjustments including reduced sound, low lighting, no trailers, and freedom to move around.
They are particularly suited to families with children with sensory sensitivities, including those with autistic spectrum conditions and learning disabilities.
