Physiotherapists are responsible for the assessment and physical rehabilitation of those needing treatment due to accident, injury, illness, disease or disability.
Children’s Universal Health Services
Children's Universal Health Services are a service that is available for all pregnant women, children, families and young people in Milton Keynes. All our services are provided within the integrated 0-19 team and include Health Visiting and School Nursing. We aim to help to empower parents, children and young people to make decisions that affect their and their family’s health, development and wellbeing.
Our staff consist of health visitors, school nurses, staff nurses, nursery nurses, healthcare assistants and administrators. Health visitors and school nurses are all qualified nurses or midwives who have undertaken specialist training in public health, child development and health needs assessment.
Community Paediatrician
Milton Keynes Community Paediatric Team supports children with developmental problems because of complex needs, disabilities or long-term conditions, enabling them to achieve their maximum potential.
Community paediatricians are specialist children’s doctors with training and expertise in developmental paediatrics and disability, social paediatrics (including child protection), educational paediatrics and public health for children.
Complex Needs Nursing Team
Milton Keynes Children with Complex Needs Service offers home care and medical supplies for children with complex needs.
The service provides nursing care and support to families of children who have complex medical needs, palliative care needs, including end-of-life care, complex epilepsy, haemoglobinopathies, neurodisability and degenerative conditions, and the management of complex continence issues. A small respite provision is available within the team for the youngest children who are not eligible for social care respite or nursery provision.

Children and young people attending The Redway School are supported throughout the school day by the Nurses from the Paediatric Complex Needs Nursing Team.

Continence Service
Continence support for 0-18 years. If you have concerns about your child , please contact your Health Visitor for the 0-5 years or School Nurse 5-19 years. They will be able to explore any daytime or night time wetting issues and independent toileting difficulties and provide advice and support. If the Health Visitor or School Nurse feels this is longer term difficulty due to complex needs, they will be able to make a referral to a specialist service ( Complex Needs Nursing Team ) for the provision of incontinence products. Dietitian
The department of Nutrition and Dietetics provides nutrition and dietary advice to patients, carers and staff in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
The department covers a wide range of areas including; Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Critical Care, Dysphagia, Enteral and Parenteral feeding, Paediatrics, Stroke, Oncology, and learning disabilities.

The service is for pre-school age children (0 - to rising five years) with speech and language difficulties. Children must be registered with a Milton Keynes general practitioner (GP).
Covers hearing impairment, cleft lip and palate, social communication difficulties, dysfluency, speech and language disorders, augmentative and alternative communication.

Early Years Complex Needs Team
This service is for pre-school age children (0 - rising 5 years) with feeding, swallowing, and speech and language difficulties. Children must be registered with a Milton Keynes general practitioner (GP).
Milton Keynes Early Years Complex Needs SLT Team is a specialist team which develops the communication, eating and drinking skills of pre-school age children with long term disabilities.
Speech and Language Therapy Team for schools
The Schools Speech and Language Therapy Team provides services to primary, secondary schools and some specialist education provision within Milton Keynes. It offers specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children and young people as well as training for staff working in education. Your child's Special Educational Needs Coodinator (SENCo) can refer to our service.

We aim to support children to achieve their potential in everyday life.

Ophthalmology is based in the Eye Clinic at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH)

Orthotics
The Orthotics department at Milton Keynes University Hospital supports patients of all ages, from our newborn babies through to our elderly population.
The core brief of the department is to choose, design and prescribe orthotic devices to support, control and improve the way the patient’s body or body segment works and to stop the symptoms that are being experienced.
Our team work with patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, from heel pain to head protection for patients on the Autistic spectrum. Our experts see patients with pre or post-surgery concerns, whatever their disability.
